Please do not try to re-seal this part yourself, as you may cause irreparable damage.
If we find serious pitting or deep scratches on the chromed cylinder shaft, then the chromed cylinder shaft must be replaced. We manufacture replacement shafts out of hardened, chromed, stainless steel. Shaft replacement is very labor intensive and costs $400.
