Core exchange means that you get rebuilt parts from Top Hydraulics' inventory first, and then you send back your original parts for a refund of your core deposit of $600. For a full core refund, parts must be in good condition except for leaking seals.

 

 

 


Mercedes Convertible Hydraulic Cylinders

 

W208 CLK-Class | Years: 1998-2003

 

You send in your set of cylinders to get rebuilt, and we typically turn it around in a day. The core exchange option is slightly more expensive, plus there is a refundable core charge. In the event of mechanical damage (does not happen during normal operation) or rust (can happen under harsh condition) on the chromed cylinder shafts, there will be a $100 per cylinder surcharge on the upgrade service because Top Hydraulics will have to replace the shaft with a custom made stainless steel shaft.

We are happy to receive the latch cylinders mounted inside their locks, and will re-assemble at no additional charge. With the up-front shipping option, we typically ship the two latch cylinders inside their locks already.

Important: pitted or rusted cylinders must have their shafts replaced in order to function properly.  There is an additional $100 charge per shaft replacement

Not sure whether you have a W208 or a W209?
The W208, model years '98-'03, has four separate, round headlights, and the front of the soft top needs to be latched by hand.

For Rebuilding Your Cylinders: Send your parts to Top Hydraulics first and we will rebuild and upgrade them to better-than-new condition.

Seals used by Top Hydraulics, Inc. include Viton™ and Teflon™-hybrid seals, as well as enhanced Polyurethane material, which far exceed the OEM's requirements for rigidity, but provide at least double the service life for your convertible car top actuators, based on scientific test data.
