Top Hydraulics only works on the hydraulic portion of this device. The emergency deployment feature of the roll-over bar is electro-mechanic, and it is not affected by Top Hydraulics' rebuild/reseal service for this hydraulic cylinder. Just for completeness, it is hereby clarified and agreed that Top Hydraulics is explicitly not liable for any emergency deployment of the roll-over bar, or failure thereof.

Each 208-chassis CLK has one of these cylinders to move the rear head rests. The hydraulic cylinder is used to "manually" raise and lower the roll bar, also known as headrest assembly, Mercedes-Benz part number A 208 860 00 32. An emergency deployment disengages the roll bar from the hydraulic cylinder assembly via an electro-magnetic solenoid. The roll bar then gets pushed up quickly via spring power. If the roll bar has been emergency-deployed, then pushing the UP button will extend the hydraulic cylinder and make them re-connect. Subsequently, the hydraulic cylinder can pull the roll bar down and thus re-energize the spring for emergency deployment.

The hydraulic cylinder is complicated, and it has numerous seals inside. A special feature is the cylinder staying in the locked-down position unless it gets hydraulic pressure to extend. Top Hydraulics upgrades all seals inside the cylinder, including the port seals which are located where the hydraulic lines enter the cylinder.
