Fabric Bow Tension Cylinder

Mercedes part number 209-800-09-72-64. 

Mercedes does not put this part number on the cylinders.

Engravings on the cylinder do not match the Mercedes part number - they are serial numbers and internal references. The engraving in the middle line would include 1604-030

A pair of these cylinders raises and lowers the rear bow (rear of the soft top with the glass in it). They tend to leak first on the bottom, where the mounting pin goes through the housing.

Top Hydraulics makes these parts better than new inside, with seven new, superior seals and reinforcement against the occasional "explosion" known to happen on OEM cylinders' bottoms. There is a lot of precision machining involved, new CNC-machined glands to accommodate the improved rod seals, and Top Hydraulics' signature wiper seal, which keeps dirt and water from entering the gland. Comes with new O-rings to put on the hoses when you install the cylinders, and an illustration on how exactly to install the O-rings.

You send in your cylinder for rebuild first (then we rebuild it, then we ship it back to you), or you pick the up-front shipping option (aka core exchange) which adds $30 surcharge plus $120 refundable deposit. Core exchange means we send the parts first from our inventory, then you send back your cores (original cylinders) to recover the core deposit. The deposit gets refunded in full to the original payment method once we receive a matching core without serious damage to the metal parts.

Serious damage to the cylinder's shaft is very rare on p/n A2098000972 - it would be either caused by tools or by corrosion. Corrosion on the shaft of this particular part is normally seen only on parts from salvage vehicles. If we have to replace the shaft on your cylinder due to damage that we cannot massage or polish out, then we have to charge an additional $100. Again, this is extremely are with an incidence rate close to 1:1,000.

Seals used by Top Hydraulics, Inc. include Viton™ and Teflon™-hybrid seals, as well as enhanced Polyurethane material, which far exceed the OEM's requirements for rigidity, but provide at least double the service life for your convertible car top actuators, based on scientific test data.
