Top Cylinder - VW New Beetle 2001-2014

$250.00

There are two options for placing your order:

1. (Most affordable) You send in your leaking cylinder, and Top Hydraulics rebuilds it.

  • Top Hydraulics replaces & upgrades the seals in your cylinders with our superior proprietary material. Top Hydraulics' u-cup seals have a far more reliable seal and much longer service life. You get back cylinders that have been rebuilt to outlast and outperform OEM replacements.

OR

2. (Fastest) Core Exchange Option where Top Hydraulics ships the part from our inventory first ($290 plus a $150 deposit).

  • Option 2 means that you get a rebuilt & upgraded cylinder from Top Hydraulics' inventory first, then you ship back your original part for credit of your $150 core refund. You get a cylinder that has been rebuilt to outlast and outperform OEM replacements.

Important note: the current design of Top Hydraulics' cylinder rebuild makes it very difficult to mount the switch assembly on the right side cylinder. If you have a leaking cylinder on the right side only, we recommend that you swap the original left and right side cylinder and send us the cylinder to be mounted on the left side. Our rebuilds are better than brand new cylinders.

If you send us a pair of cylinders, or if you order a pair of cylinders from our inventory, then one of the return shipped cylinders will be NEW (to be mounted on the right side), and one will be rebuilt (to be mounted on the left side). Be sure not to damage the polished shaft on the cylinder with slipping tools or by hitting a sharp corner with the shaft - best retract the shaft as soon as the shaft end's ball joint has been released. Ball joints are released by sticking a flat 1/8" screwdriver under the circlip that goes around the ball joint, levering the screwdriver up, and carefully walking the clip about 1/4" off its original position toward the cylinder or away from the cylinder. Once the clip has been walked off its groove, it will remain stretched and you can pull the cylinder off the ball joint. For hose removal, pull the black clips that hold the hydraulic lines in the cylinder. Note that the clips can be hard to get going at first. Grab with some small, high-quality pliers, and wiggle and pull at the same time. Do not lever your tool off the small steel tube that the clip slides in, no matter how tempting. Bent tubes are usually not repairable...

Important: Polished cylinder shafts must be free of rust for a successful rebuild. We can replace rusted shafts when needed, at an additional charge.

Core exchange is available for an additional $40 per cylinder plus $150 core deposit per cylinder. If the cores are received with damaged or rusted shafts, then Top Hydraulics will have to retain $100 core deposit per damaged shaft.
