Left Main Lift Cylinder - Mercedes W209 CLK-Class

$200.00

There are two options for placing your order:

1. (Most affordable) You send in your leaking cylinder, and Top Hydraulics rebuilds it.

  • Top Hydraulics replaces & upgrades ALL seals in your cylinder with our superior proprietary material including rod seals, gland seals, port seals, plug seals and piston seals. Top Hydraulics' u-cup seals have a far more reliable seal and much longer service life.

OR

2. (Fastest) Core Exchange Option where Top Hydraulics ships parts from our inventory first ($250 plus a $200 deposit).

  • Option 2 means that you get a rebuilt & upgraded cylinder from Top Hydraulics' inventory first, then you ship back your original part for credit of your $200 core refund. You get a cylinder that has been rebuilt to outlast and outperform OEM replacements.
  • P/N: 2098000772 aka 209-800-07-72-64

Top Hydraulics makes these parts better than new inside, with seven new, superior seals and reinforcement against the occasional "explosion" known to happen on OEM cylinders' bottoms.

Rebuild & upgrade service for Mercedes CLK A209/W209-Class

LH Top Drive (Main Lift) Cylinder

Mercedes part number A209 800 07 72

Engravings on the cylinder do not match the Mercedes part number - they are serial numbers and internal references. There are three lines of engraving on the original part. The middle line will typically be 1648-030-B or 1648-030-C or 1648-030-D or 1648-030-E

This is the left side cylinder that lifts the main portion of the soft top (together with the right side cylinder - note that the left side cylinder is different with three ports for hydraulic lines, as opposed to two ports on the right side cylinder. Left side and right side tend to fail at almost the same time.

Top Hydraulics makes these parts better than new inside, with seven new, superior seals and reinforcement against the occasional "explosion" known to happen on OEM cylinders' bottoms. There is a lot of precision machining involved, new CNC-machined glands to accommodate the improved rod seals, and Top Hydraulics' signature wiper seal, which keeps dirt and water from entering the gland. Comes with new O-rings to put on the hoses when you install the cylinders, and an illustration on how exactly to install the O-rings.

You send in your cylinder for rebuild first (then we rebuild it, then we ship it back to you), or you pick the up-front shipping option (aka core exchange) which adds $50 surcharge plus $200 refundable deposit. Core exchange means we send the parts first from our inventory, then you send back your cores (original cylinders) to recover the core deposit. The deposit gets refunded in full to the original payment method once we receive a matching core without serious damage to the metal parts.

Hydraulic line hook-up: number 11 on top, number 15 in the middle and number 12 on the bottom.

If your cylinder has a white ring of corrosion at the top of the shaft where it meets the clevis then it likely has some rust damage.

The corrosion and rust damage is most often caused by water intrusion due to a failed weather seal on the vehicle.

If your cylinder has a rust damaged shaft we can replace it, but there is an additional charge of $100 for a replacement shaft.

We will only subtract $50/ea from the core refund for corroded shafts if ordered with core exchange method.

For Rebuilding Your Cylinders:  Send your cylinders to Top Hydraulics first and we will rebuild and upgrade them to better-than-new condition.

Seals used by Top Hydraulics, Inc. include Viton™ and Teflon™-hybrid seals, as well as enhanced Polyurethane material, which far exceed the OEM's requirements for rigidity, but provide at least double the service life for your convertible car top actuators, based on scientific test data.
